Jiangsu is lies in the East of China, has an area of 100 thousand square kilometers in area and a population is 67.7 million. Situated in the lower reaches of the Changjiang River and bounded by the provinces of Shandong, Zhejiang, Anhui and Shanghai City, Jiangsu is a province with wide alluvial plain.
Jiangxi has a warm and humid climate with cold springs and winters, hot summers and dry autumns thus accounting for its four distinct seasons. Annual rainfall averages 1400-1800 millimeters and the average temperature of the province is 3-9 C in January and 27-31 C in July.
In Jiangsu, the industries and the agriculture here are very developed. Amongst its agriculture produces, the output of rice, cotton, oil, cocoon, pigs and fresh-water fish occupy an important place in China. Its most important industries are machinery, chemical industry, electric power, textile, food, electron, paper-making and cement. Its cultural, education, industrial art and physical education are amongst the first places in China. The railway, highway and inland water transport form the traffic-network. It is not only dense but also convenient. The province is also famous for its traditional light industrial products and handicrafts, such as embroidery and straw woven articles in Suzhou, purple pottery in Yixing, clay figuure in Wuxi, lacquerware in Yangzhou, sandalwood fan and jasmine tea in Suzhou and so on.
There are a lot of places of interest. Among them, Dr. Sun Yat-sen's Tomb in Nanjing, Xuanwu Lake, Yuntai Mountain in Lianyungang, the West Lake in Yangzhou, the Tai Lake in Wuxi, Suzhou Garden and the three caves in Yixing. Marvelous rivers and mountains are not the only attractions that tempt visitors to Jiangsu. The province, in particular the capital city Nanjing, brags a fascinating history.
The two most important Buddhist temples in the world are in Jiangxi. The Iron Buddha Temple and the Dounglin Temple are very important to Buddhists from around the world.
Jiangsu is also a centre of education and science in China. It has the highest density of academic institutions including university, college, and research institutes. The percentage of educated people is always ranked in the front of the country.
The main river of Jiangxi Province is the Gan River which flows from the north to the south and flowing into Lake Poyang, the largest freshwater lake in the People's Republic of China and Lake Poyang flows into the Yangtze River. |
