Belgium is a country situated in northwest Europe and is surrounded by France, Germany, Luxembourg and the Netherlands. The country’s capital is Brussels; Brussels is the largest urban area in Belgium. Belgium is world’s 139th country with 30,528 km square total area. According to 2008 estimate, the country has 10,666,866 population, ranking 76th in the world. Belgium is one of the few countries that have mandatory voting. The country has one of the highest rates of voter turnout in the world. The country has popular monarchy (i.e. a system of monarchical governance in which the monarch's title is linked with the people rather than a unitary state), constitutional and a parliamentary democracy. Belgium is divided into three regions; Brussels-Capital Region, Flemish Region and Walloon Region. Flemish and Walloon regions are further divided into ten provinces, consisting of five provinces each and many cities. Brussels-Capital Region consists of 308 municipalities, Flemish Region consists of 262 municipalities and Walloon Region has 19 municipalities. The economy of country is very powerful extending world-wide. The main imports of the country are clothing and accessories, chemicals, food products, machinery, petroleum and petroleum products, rough diamonds, and textiles. And the main exports of the country are automobiles, finished diamonds, food products, iron and steel, plastics, nonferrous metals, petroleum products and textiles. The most popular sports in Belgium are association football and cycling. The Cuisine of Belgium is widely known in all over the world. The people of the country love to eat waffles and french fries. The country produces over 500 varieties of beer from which, the Trappist beer of the Abbey of Westvleteren has been rated the world's best beer.
