Switzerland is located in Europe. It is east of France, south of Germany, west of Austria and Liechtenstein and north of Italy.


The temperature is moderate with no extremes of hot and cold, so Switzerland can be visited at anytime of year. Summer is warm to hot lasting from about June to September, and although good for outdoor activities it is also the most crowded time for a holiday. Ski resorts open in late November and remain so until the snow begins to melt in April.


The economy of Switzerland comes under the High income OECD group according to the classification of economies by region and income, FY 2005 made by the World Bank. Most of the people working in Switzerland are employed by small and medium-sized enterprises, which play an extremely important role in the Swiss economy. The economy is heavily dependent on foreign guest workers, who represent approximately 20% of the labor force. Agriculture employs less than 5% of the population, and since only 10% of the land is arable, the primary agricultural products are cattle and dairy goods (especially cheeses); grains, fruits, and vegetables are also grown, and there is a large chocolate-processing industry. Mineral resources are scarce, and most raw materials and many food products must be imported. Tourism adds significantly to the economy. Electricity is generated chiefly from hydroelectrical and nuclear power sources. Switzerland has a worldwide reputation for the high quality of its export manufactures, which include machinery, chemicals, watches, textiles, precision instruments, and diverse high-tech products. Centered in Basel, the chemical-pharmaceutical industry exports around the globe. Due to its central location in Europe and the stability of its politics and currency, Switzerland has become one of the world's most important financial centers. The banking, insurance, shipping, and freighting industries accommodate the enormous amount of international trade going through Switzerland. Imports include manufactured goods, vehicles, and clothing and textiles. Its most important trading partners are Germany, Italy, France, the United States, and Great Britain.


Aargau is some of the most fertile in Switzerland. Dairy farming, cereal and fruit farming are among the canton's main economic activities. Appenzell Ausserrhoden is a canton of Switzerland. Appenzell Innerrhodenis a canton in the north east of Switzerland. The canton of Basel-Stadtwas created when the historic canton of Basel was divided in 1833. Berne has several dozen movie theaters. Agriculture is important in the canton of Fribourg. The city of Geneva dominates the economy of the canton. It is a center of commerce, trade and finance. The canton of Glarus  is dominated by the deep valley of the Linth River and the smaller Sernftal on the east. Agriculture and tourism are the pillars of the graubunden canton's economy. Agriculture is important in Canton Jura. The canton of Lucerne is located in the centre of Switzerland. It is drained by the Reuss river and the river Kleine Emme. The canton of Neuchatel is located in Romandy, the western part of Switzerland. Nidwalden sends only one deputy to the Swiss Council of States. Agriculture in The canton of Schaffhausen is the northernmost canton of Switzerland. St. Gallen good transport links to the rest of the country and to neighbouring Germany and Austria. The canton of Thurgau is known for its fine agricultural produce.  The most important industry sectors of Ticino’s economy are financial, tourism, trade and commerce, logistics, and production. The Valais is one of the drier parts of Switzerland in its central Rhone valley. The vaud is the second largest producer of wine in Switzerland. Zug is a low tax region, and is headquarters for a number of multinational enterprises. The Antiquarische Gesellschaft in Zurich is an organization devoted to preserving the canton's history. The Alps contain some of Switzerland's most dramatic landscapes, in a country already well endowed with spectacular scenery and fabulous alpine vistas. Situated at the heart of the Alps, Switzerland shares the mountain range with France, Italy and Austria and provides winter and summer time enjoyment for skiers, snowboarders, walkers and climbers.


Fraumunster Church is the most graceful. National Museum has an impressive and varied collection of ancient artifacts, providing visitors with a richer understanding of Swiss life and consciousness through the centuries. The Rhine Falls (Rheinfall) is the largest and most powerful waterfall in Europe, impressive not so much for its height of 75ft (23m), but more for the mighty volume of water thundering over its broad breadth. This magnificent natural wonder is especially remarkable during late spring when the snowmelt adds to its volume. On the hill above the falls is a medieval castle, Schloss Laufen, housing a restaurant, shops and a youth hostel. The largest lake in central Europe that is shared by both Switzerland and France, Lake Geneva (Lac Léman to its French-speaking inhabitants) has for decades drawn visitors to its shores. Attracted by the alpine panorama, quaint wooden chalet villages, vineyard-covered slopes and sailboats skimming across the blue waters, many famous writers, musical composers, actors and poets came to settle and the area has become something of an inspiration to the arts. Situated in the westernmost district of Vaud, the region contains a diversity of attractions and activities, from wine-growing villages and mountain ski resorts, picturesque castles, and magnificent cathedrals, to low-key lakeside resorts, boat cruises, and cosy fireside pots of fondue. Devoted for the most part to 19th and 20th century artwork, the Kunsthaus Zurich (Zurich Fine Arts Museum) is a cultural drawcard for any art lover. The final work of the renowned Swiss architect who pioneered modernism and laid the foundation for Bauhaus, the Center Le Corbusier in Zurichhorn Park is the epitome of modern design. Language are Schwyzerdutsch (Swiss-German dialect); French; Italian; Romansh; English and religion are Protestantism; Roman Catholicism.


The most popular sport in Switzerland is soccer .Almost every village has a soccer club, so have we. In Switzerland the children begin to play soccer at age of four. Ice hockey and football is popular sport. Switzerland has some very good tennis players like Mark Rosset and Martina Hingis She is actually number one of the world.


The most famous celebration is Basel's Fastnacht, or carnival. Marking the final days before Lent, it is similar to the Mardi Gras festivities held in New Orleans. For three days, masked and costumed merrymakers parade through streets filled with decorative floats while the strains of pipe-and-drum bands are heard.
